Chronic Effects of Loxapine, Iloperidone, Paliperidone on Mice Isolated Vas Deferens Contractility

Objective: Erectile dysfunction is a usual side effect of antipsychotic medications; this causes patients to avoid using drugs. The aim study investigate the effects iloperidone, paliperidone and loxapine on serotonin (5-HT), noradrenaline (NA), adenosine triphosphate (ATP) potassium chloride (KCl)-induced contractions vas deferens in mice.Materials Methods: mice were randomly divided into experimental groups treated by ip injection drugs for 21 days. After treatment, investigated 5-HT, ATP, NA KCl-induced contractile responses epididymal prostatic portions strips. Results: 5-HT-induced significantly increased while ATP-induced decreased both obtained from loxapine-treated groups. However, these had no significant NA- deferens. Conclusion: These results showed that affected chronic treatments paliperidone, loxapine. In chronically with drugs, serotonergic purinergic receptors may contribute changes cause erectile dysfunction.
